In my opinion, Guy Clark is one of the greatest American songwriters that ever lived. His songs and style have been emulated by a lot of people, but never perfectly duplicated. As a writer, he inspired me to read more, challenge myself more, and to attempt to put more work into my own writing. “ Stuff That Works” has been one of my favorite songs for as long as I can remember. It was also co-written by Rodney Crowell so that’s damn good company to have on a co-write. This song feels like it was written about me. Every time I sing it, I feel like I’m being truly honest because it encompasses everything I believe in one song.
